Travel is amazing. What I would never do at home, I willingly jump into in another country. In the United States, would I trust a boat company that only charged 30 cents for an hour trip down a river? Would I then proceed to stay on said boat when the life jackets are tied down to the ceiling and there aren't enough to go around?
Don't worry, mom. I'm safe and sound. It was not a Titanic mission.

And thank goodness you tell me these things AFTER the fact. As long as you continue to do that, I just may survive. Leave good notes but do not tell me these things BEFORE you do them, ok?
