while in Hungary, a pipe burst over my cubicle resulting in a host of water-damaged moldy books, a smattering of ceiling insulation specks strewn about the floor, and a now defunct telephone. the story that is about to ensue involves said phone.
the place i work is large enough to warrant its own tech support. i walk over to the help desk and explain my situation. "My phone doesn't work," I say. They create a work order and I believe my situation to be remedied in a few short hours.
several hours later, the response i get nicely packaged in an email:
Customer (Karin Tome): Her phone is not turned on.
Response: Will contact user.
Response: Called user. She's not available. Left voice mail.

That's so funny, Karin! The same thing happened to me when my wireless wasn't working. I called them the next day to check on the status and they said they sent me an email.
I am so glad you blogged about this! Such a CRAZY story!!
i have alot of friends on that tech support team and i think if i was still working at lake hart i would print out your blog and go post it up in their section - right next to all their examples of how dumb the customers are.
Not at all surprised!!!
they have a list?!
hahahahahahaha! man, and i'm coming to work for this organization? hmmm maybe i should re-think this :)
WOW!
Sounds like the folks at the "help desk" fail to ask enough questions.Suggestion:
Help Question 1 - What do you suspect is wrong with your phone?
Karin Answer 1 - Perhaps the celing tiles and water all over the place could be a clue.
Help Comment- Oh, valid request, perhaps we can help.
Now, this might or might not get a better response, but it would give them food for thought!
Or not.
