That's what happens when you put baking before God :) How about, if you come to Africa I'll bake you something nice? Love you!

Btw, I can see a glimpse of your stove in this pic but have you put pics of your house anywhere? I need a virtual tour.

coming from someone who isn't allowed to eat wheat, this may not mean as much...

but, that looks amazing to me!

I think it would help if we knew what it was supposed to be...

Hmm, maybe you should get an oven thermometer. Just a hunch, but your stove seems to be running a teeny bit hot.

Or an oven timer works, too!

I told you in New Smyrna, Karin...the oven is still hot when you turn it off =)I see a pattern forming...just call it cajun style

So many possibilities...I’m glad I left my options open for a sequel!

Ah, Laura. The great tragedy here is that i DID use an oven timer! And Brooke, Amanda got it right--it was supposed to be blueberry muffins & a blueberry muffin loaf.

David--no need for me to advertise for you. You do a great job of it yourself :-)

And John, you might have enjoyed the muffins. I cooked them with olive oil and soy milk (see where health gets you?).

is that banana bread?? :)

Just curious, did you cook the loaf and the muffins at the same time? That would be enough to burn the muffins (the instructions would have a higher temp for the loaf). Or was it less than a full recipe? That could mess up cooking times. Alternately, you could check where the racks are in your oven. A rack right up at the top could also be the culprit. If it's neither of those, did you recipe come from a country other than the one you bought your stove in? Any chance the degrees were the wrong type of degrees?

It's so disappointing when this happens because you're left with a sink full of dishes, a house that smells like fresh baked muffins and no muffins. Very cruel indeed.

(ps Sheldon K. from BC sent me a link to your blog and he's right, it's wonderful to read.)

Olive oil and soy milk?? Karin...just because the guy behind the counter at the Whole Foods mart is good looking, doesn't mean you need to be buying up all their supplies and trying to make tasty blueberry muffins with them ;)

Just tell everyone it's dark chocolate frosting.

maybe you're more of a cook than a baker?
