academia on the cheap

Sunday was a perfect day with a visit two libraries and a bookstore. And thanks to this new discovery, I've died and gone to heaven.

Last week, I scored a Harvard t-shirt at my local Goodwill.

Which leads me to my very favorite quote from Good Will Hunting:
See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna start doing some thinking on your own, and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are 2 certainties in life. One, don't do that. And two, you dropped $150 grand on a f*%*ing education you could have gotten for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.

That is a AWESOME website!

Not much in the religion section though - only three lectures from the same person. Although I guess there are plenty of other religious sources from various pastors and such.

Pretty neat though.

Good stuff! It has a lot of the same content as iTunes U, which I think also has significantly more audio. I'm watching a math lecture from MIT now during lunch, and I'd probably download more if I had a portable player that supported movies. Nothing like linear algebra and the history of the Supreme Court to pass the time in line at the DMV!

Dear O'Brenta,

Whoever (whomever?) was in the ranking for the top blog comment commenter, you just kicked that person out with this winner.

Made my day.

We can either blame your dad, or give him credit.....this must be what you get when you read the encyclopedia to the baby. I should have read you my 'how-to' books (and cookbooks) when you were but a wee one.
Love you bunches, but that site is too deep for me. zzzzzzzz.

Wait....you own cookbooks?!?
